Music collaboration platform boombox.io has secured $7 million in seed funding. The round was spearheaded by Forerunner Ventures, with contributions from super{set} startup studio and Ulu Ventures.
Boombox.io, launched in November 2022, provides a unique platform for music creators, offering features like file storage, feedback collection, songwriting split management, and creation of simple contracts for song ownership.
A standout feature is the Generative AI assistant Boombot, which generates fresh ideas, helps with lyrics, and suggests chord progressions, transforming them into MIDI files for users’ digital audio workstations.
The $7 million funding will help accelerate the growth of boombox.io, allowing for team expansion, rapid product development, new partnerships, and continuing to serve its dedicated customer base.
Tom Chavez, co-founder and CEO, shared the company’s vision to provide music makers with a holistic platform for collaboration, connection, and revenue generation, describing boombox.io as “the first end-to-end solution” for creators.
Brian O’Malley, Managing Partner at Forerunner, highlighted the platform’s aim to reimagine productivity software for music producers, enabling them to focus on creativity rather than struggling with unsuitable apps and systems.
The company is planning a desktop app for simpler file backup, automated submissions to performing rights organizations, and video features for live collaboration. Lucas Banker, Head of Partnerships at boombox.io, lauded the platform, saying, “It’s like Dropbox on steroids but with so much more.”
